LeaderShift changes leadership

The LeaderShift program which has been led by Keith Howard and Treena Duncan has now shifted its own leadership.

Treena is now the Director for LeaderShift. Keith, as he gently enters retirement, lets go of many of his responsibilities but continues to do some part-time contract work on research and social media related to LeaderShift.

Starting January 1 Rhian Walker has been hired half-time to work alongside Treena planning LeaderShift events. She and Treena will also spend the next six months preparing a longer range plan for the future of LeaderShift.

It is widely recognized that the training and support of good leadership is central to helping our church move into the future. BC Conference remains committed to this work even as it, too, changes.

Critical Conversations: Leadership, Governance and Ministry

Start Date:
Nov 5 2016 - 9:30am - 3:30pm

Congregations thrive when lay and professional leaders lead as partners, and a fruitful partnership requires clear understandings about how decisions will be made.

This event offers specific process congregations can use to design and test new ways of decision making. It helps leaders to build boards that delegate effectively, demand high performance, require sound stewardship, and reflect continually on mission and purpose at board meetings and in wider gatherings. It supports a purpose-driven work environment for clergy, staff and volunteers, so that they enjoy appropriate autonomy and space for creative work.

Critical Conversations: Leadership, Governance and Ministry is a workshop that will help ministers, boards and councils make a positive impact on your congregations’ governance and ministry. Facilitated by Dan Hotchkiss, formerly with the Alban Institute, is a nationally known consultant in this area. We invite you to come as individuals or register your entire Board/Council and your minister to be part of this amazing training Event!

Cost: $25 (incl. lunch), Congregations of five or more: $100

Apr 22 2016 - 7:00pm - Apr 24 2016 - 1:00pm

The world is rapidly changing. And so is the church.

As our congregations diversify, struggle and restructure, leaders and members are experiencing many expressions of change.

From technology to language, leadership to eldership, faith to hope – which expressions do we pay attention to?

Which of our skills and abilities can we use to help our congregations evolve with these changes?

What do we need to equip our church for change?

Holy Shift: Rising Spirit is a three-day event designed for United Church ministry personnel and congregation members to connect, learn and share our unique ways of shifting with the rising Spirit.
