Support To Pastoral Relationships Ministry Team

This Team:

• provides pastoral oversight of congregations;
• helps congregations with pastoral relations.

Arrow Lakes Pastoral Charge/Burton

Arrow Lakes Pastoral Charge, with Robertson Memorial United Church, Nakusp is now a separate pastoral charge from St. Andrew’s United Church, Burton and each congregation retains its own assets. 

The Pastoral Relations Committee has appointed Janet and Ron Cameron as Pastoral Charge Co-supervisors for St. Andrew’s United Church, Burton.

Visitations

Each Pastoral Charge is to be visited by Presbytery every 3 years. This is a requirement of The United Church of Canada, and is a way of supporting our congregations. You can download a Visitation Guide that outlines the process.

The following visits are planned:

• Windermere Valley PC (held October 2008)
• Kimberley United Church (held January 21, 2009)

Positions Filled

Kimberley United

At a congregational meeting after worship Easter Sunday, the Search Committee presented their nomination for new Minister at Kimberley United. They recommended Rev. Christine Dudley and the congregation voted unanimously to accept this recommendation. Christine currently serves at Nelson United Church and will be starting in Kimberley August 1st. Many in the congregation already know Christine from her involvement in Kootenay Presbytery. The congregation also offered their thanks and appreciation to the JNAC and Search Committees (including our Presbytery reps) for a job well and efficiently done. Rev. Jeff Seaton continues to serve Kimberley until June 30, 2011.

Windermere Valley Shared Ministry

New Minister for Windermere Valley Shared Ministry: The Rev. Shona Boardman will be the next Minister for the Windermere Valley Shared Ministry effective October 16, 2011. Shona is a Canadian Anglican priest currently serving the Parish of St. John in Edinburgh, Scotland as the assistant curate. Due to prior commitments to St. John’s, Shona’s appointment will begin in the fall. She plans to visit Windermere Valley in May to meet some of the congregation and to prepare for her move. Shona grew up in Ontario and studied theology at Trinity College in Toronto graduating in 2009. She is not unfamiliar with the East Kootenays as she spent a summer in the Spillamcheen Valley where her husband was involved in a bird migration program. She brings experience in ministry with children and youth, has a passion for ministry amongst people who desire to grow spiritually in the knowledge of God, and recognizes the importance of hospitality and fellowship in the life of a congregation. Shona looks forward to being involved in the community and will bring many gifts to WVSM life and ministry.
