BC Conference – Finance and Property Officer
British Columbia Conference, as part of the wider United Church of Canada, is seeking a dynamic individual to be the lead staff for Finance and Property. We are looking for a self-starter who is committed to creating and maintaining Finance structures for an organization focussed on church life and work, social justice and mission. This is a full-time permanent position (35 hours/week).
In 2019 major changes in governance and administration for the entire United Church of Canada will take place. This position will be vital in planning for the changes in BC, establishing the new financial systems and structures needed in the new structure. BC Conference is also developing an extensive property development and affordable rental housing portfolio that will need the creation of new financial oversight and accounting systems.
Reporting to the Executive Secretary and with delegated power to act, the Finance and Property Officer is the primary person responsible for the forward thinking, prudent, and accountable planning and management of the Conference’s finances and properties. This includes core operations, Conference camping, ProVision funds, the Property Development Council, the Community Renewal Society, an investment portfolio which includes externally restricted, internally-restricted, and unrestricted funds, and future affordable housing-related societies.
