Message from president Jay Olson
October 9, 2018
So much has happened since our meeting in June. There have been vacations, moves, camps, weddings, memorials, VST Indigenous Studies Program and other summer schools, General Council, mission partnership trips in B.C. and beyond, and so much more.
Serious matters have challenged British Columbians to the limits such as the worst wildfire season on record, the ongoing opioid crisis and a housing situation that leaves far too many people priced out of a basic human right. Many around the Conference are now engaged in conversations about SOGI123 and the needs of some of the most vulnerable and marginalized children in the province today. There are serious pipeline debates, a devastating report from the U.N. on climate change and decisions to be made about our processes for participating in democracy, as we know it.
